Problem Description: MIMOSA device is displaying a "Device is too cold to perform a capture" warning indicated by a blue LED at the bottom of the device.
Symptoms:
- Blue LED indicates a "Too Cold" warning.
- Device becomes unusable until it warms up or returns to its normal temperature.
Basic Checks:
- Device IMEI
- Username
Troubleshooting Questions:
- Is this the first time you've received the "Too cold" warning?
If not,
- how frequently does this warning occur?
- When does it typically happen (e.g., at startup)?
- Ask if the surrounding temperature was too cold which could have thrown this warning.
LED Color Check:
- Ask the user to check the LED color at the bottom of the device.
- Blue LED indicates the device is too cold.
Resolution Steps:
- Immediate Action:
- Advise the customer to set the device aside for 5-10 min and let it reach normal temperature. (Device will warm up itself)
- Wait until the LED turns green before using the device.
- Verify Image Capture:
- After allowing the device to reach normal temperature (green LED), verify if images can be captured successfully.
- Another possible resolution is to leave the device turned FULLY OFF and plugged into the charger overnight to let the battery fully recover
Further Escalation:
If "Too cold" warnings occur frequently without apparent cause.
, escalate the issue to the Tech team for further investigation if the problem reoccurs.
Note: Sometimes, problems with the device's internal battery voltage can manifest as too-hot/too-cold errors. A possible resolution is to leave the device turned FULLY OFF and plugged into the charger overnight to let the battery fully recover. This should be fixed in hardware in the future.
